Version 2025.4

What's new in 3spin Learning version 2025.4

New Features

  • New “My Learning Space” section
With this release, we are introducing the personal learning area My Learning Space. Here, learners can see all relevant training courses at a glance – from mandatory courses to recommended learning offers. Authors and administrators also see only the training courses and mandatory courses they are required to complete in My Learning Space. Their personal course list includes only the learning content assigned to them. Courses or units they create, edit, or manage are not displayed there.

  • Motivating learner onboarding
Optimized welcome and guided tours, personalized greetings, and a banner carousel provide a clear and motivating introduction to learning in My Learning Space.

  • Mandatory courses for learners
Courses can now be marked as mandatory. Mandatory courses are clearly highlighted, including status and due date. A dedicated mandatory course section and banners are available in My Learning Space. Overdue and soon-due mandatory courses appear at the top of the list, allowing learners to instantly see which training should be completed first.

  • Managing mandatory courses
Courses can be marked as mandatory and may optionally receive an automatic expiration period of 12 months. This allows mandatory courses to be set up as recurring annual training. Once expired, learners must retake the course for it to be marked as completed again.

  • Course and unit duration visibility
Learners and authors can now see the planned duration of courses and units in all relevant areas. This helps with better planning of training sessions.

  • Simplified course start
Learners can now start training much more intuitively – a single click anywhere on the course tile is enough. The new course detail pages provide a clear overview of all course information and included learning units. Mandatory courses can also be marked as completed here.

  • Course progress tracking for administrators
Administrators can view the course list of individual learners and track progress on mandatory courses more effectively.

  • Course invitation emails
When enrolling in courses, learners automatically receive email notifications. This ensures they receive all relevant information directly in their inbox and can start the course immediately via link.

  • More realistic characters
Realistic characters have been technically enhanced. New variants with optimized lighting provide more authentic faces and greater variety. They are available in the Free Library and can be used directly in training.

  • New facial animations for realistic characters
Additional facial expressions and animations have been integrated and can be controlled by AI. Dialogues appear more vivid and natural.

  • Improved authoring experience

    • A new menu bar in the authoring environment enables opening the scene list, managing assets, saving, exiting, and previewing units.

    • Grouping and moving assets together, as well as managing global objects, helper companion and connection modules, is now conveniently possible in the new UI.

    • Already placed objects can be hidden in edit mode, making it easier to work on other content.

    • A placement height of 1.70 meters can be used intentionally to evaluate object positions from a first-person perspective. Authors automatically start in a realistic, practice-oriented view.

  • Efficient group management
Authors can move grouped assets and apply show or hide actions to entire groups. This significantly speeds up adjustments in complex scenes.

  • Realistic testing and performance tools
Memory and FPS monitors for units, clearly defined collider and interaction rules, and internal performance testing for mandatory courses ensure transparent and stable training experiences.

Improvements

  • Improved course access control
Newly created courses are now visible only to enrolled users by default. This allows content to be prepared quietly before broad rollout.

  • Refined email communication
Emails for registration, confirmation, team invitations, course invitations, and mandatory course invitations have been revised. Content, tone, and layout are clearer and more understandable, ensuring learners know exactly what to do.

  • Future-ready AI characters
Migration to the current ChatGPT 4.1 mini model.

  • Improved audio experience
Azure TTS voices have been updated, resulting in more natural-sounding dialogues.

  • More stable app with fewer crashes
Memory and performance have been specifically optimized, including for training sessions with many or large videos. The app remains stable even with weaker internet connections.
In offline mode, the app detects removed or updated units and reliably cleans up outdated content. This keeps local storage clean and usable.

  • Controller support for PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise
The appropriate controllers are now correctly supported and displayed on PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise.

Changes

  • Third-party service Ready Player Me removed
Creating personal avatars and 3D characters using Ready Player Me is unfortunately no longer possible, as the service has been discontinued.
Existing training courses with 3D characters continue to function without issue, and previously generated 3D characters can still be used in new training courses.
Our Free Library offers many pre-made characters as an alternative.

Bug Fixes

  • Training courses retain their status when paging. They start reliably, even with specific voice list combinations.

  • Authors no longer get stuck inside oversized 3D assets.

  • Assets no longer accidentally become transparent when hiding the menu during placement.

  • Weak internet connections no longer cause unnecessary delays when switching scenes. Transitions are now significantly faster, especially in Managed Sessions.

  • Users can no longer accidentally teleport onto the Helper Companion.

  • The browser no longer remains stuck in fullscreen mode after exiting a training in fullscreen mode.
